Due to rapid passenger growth at the Punta Gorda Airport, additional aircraft parking positions were required to accommodate A319 and A320 aircraft. EG Solutions was retained by the Charlotte County Airport Authority to design, bid and provide construction phase services, including full time construction observation, for the expansion as well as to replace the existing taxilane access and apron for one of their tenants.
The project included 8600 square yards of 15-inch PCC pavement, 2600 square yards of micro-fiber reinforced 8-inch PCC pavement, 3200 square yards of flexible taxiway pavement, stormwater management systems, extension of an existing lighted passenger walkway and canopy, mast lighting and the relocation of a dump station and security fencing . Funding was a combination of FAA, FDOT and Airport Authority monies.
Portions of the work had to be completed at night and coordination with airport personnel and the Air Traffic Control Tower was ongoing at all times.
